1. Don’t use a brush, use a wide-tooth comb instead
OK, so in an ideal world, you’d never tackle detangling your hair when it’s wet. Why? Because this is when it’s at its most fragile and will lead to split ends, breakage, and even more tangles. Instead, gently brush through dry curls with a detangling comb BEFORE you hop into the shower to work through your coils, then very gently detangle towel-dried hair, retaining the curl pattern intact.
2. Comb from ends to roots, not roots to end
It’s not exactly a secret, but it’s worth repeating as so many curly-haired Queens forget this golden rule. Always brush from the bottom like you know you should, never from the roots or the middle. Otherwise, you might as well holler “breakage in-coming. Gradually tame those tangles upwards to tease rather than snarl them.

4. Get familiar with a technique known as “plopping.”
